Next Meeting Sunday 6th August

Yippee our next meeting is on again this Sunday with our usual format. We will also be holding our AGM an hour before our scheduled meeting at 12:00, and there will be yummy pizza to devour during the proceedings.

Build-A-Bitch will be kicking off this month with some kits being supplied by Mark from Sprue Finders, so will be interesting to see whats on the table.

Our Gunna Builds are due for some updates to see where participants are at, so be prepared!

SAPMA Expo is all go with the club covering the cost of a vehicle to make the long trip to this event – more on this as we get closer.

Dont forget to bring along a kit to build, which adds to the look that we actually build models…………..

See you all there!

Liquidation Sale: Metro Hobbies Melbourne

Due to the compulsory acquisition of our Swanston Street store by the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, we will be closing our doors after 30 years of trading. Starting this Saturday, 29 July, we will be having a massive stock liquidation, with markdowns across the entire store on all stock at our CBD store only, so get in quick to get big discounts on quality brands in store! Doors close on 1st September.

Don’t worry though, we expanded our Box Hill store last year to a much larger location meaning that we can continue to grow this store and the product range on offer. We will also be relocating the same technical expertise from our CBD store to our Box Hill store and we are only a phone call or email away.  We will continue to look for more opportunities to expand Metro Hobbies in the near future.

Next Meeting Sunday 7th May

Our next meeting is on this Sunday and its all go for Model Expo discussions, namely our club display including what kits will be displayed, manning our club display and other related items.

We encourage all members to bring along kits to build as it helps to promote conversation and bring variety to our interests whether it be aircraft, armour or something completely different.

A new concept that we have experimented with is the rotating of chairing meetings with the members. Basically the floor is open to those who might like to get involved with running a meeting. This can often be a daunting thought for many, but it gives the members a taste of what its like to drive the show. In some respects it can make nominations for committee positions and easier proposition, and less of an obstacle. Its all about allowing others to have a voice and to put a different perspective on format and discussion points. Maybe we might have a newbee at this meeting!

Anyway as I have missed the last few meetings I am really looking forward to coming back. Missing a whole month is bad enough, but to be away for two in a row has been rough!

See you all on Sunday.

February Meeting Update

Our first meeting went very well and gave us an opportunity to cover various in progress builds, new purchases, up coming events and lots of general modelling chat and the year ahead.

Below are some images of what members had brought along.
